Third Life???

Google has entered the social network/gaming/virtual world market by introducing Google Lively.  Since the plug-in is for PC only right now, I have not been able to try it out myself.  Based on the reviews that I have read so far, it seems to be an interesting customizable avatar creation tool plus a 3D “chat room” that you could easily embed in your own website or blog.  A reviewer called it a “clunky beta” at this point, but I do like the idea of a 3D space that is more integrated with the other Internet functions.  I will keep my eyes out for the release of Mac plug-in for Google Lively.  Meanwhile, here are some links for those of you that are interested:

  1. I have to agree it is quite clunky, and in beta. It has a lot of potential though, and being linked with Google Accounts is very helpful. Lack of Mac support sure doesn’t help, but there is still a lot of time for improvement and new versions. They are also looking for more content developers and artists, check out their official help page at lively.com/help/
